Niko Kovac aims for Dortmund to finish the season in second place in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund will host Eintracht Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park in the 33rd round of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season. Niko Kovac has stated his hope that the team can finish the season in second place.

In the last round of the league, Borussia Dortmund conceded a goal in the final stages of the second half and ultimately lost 0-1 to Borussia Mönchengladbach away from home. After winning two and losing three of their last five matches, Borussia Dortmund currently sits in second place in the standings with 67 points, five points ahead of third-placed RB Leipzig.

Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac said, "There's always a special atmosphere when the lights come on here. We hope to finish the Bundesliga season in second place. We finished fourth last season and fifth before that, so if we can get second place, it means we've made acceptable progress."

Regarding the team's lineup and current form, Niko Kovac said, "Adeyemi is more likely to come off the bench, and if he does, he can make an impact."

In head-to-head records, Dortmund has won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 5 matches against Frankfurt, including a 3-3 draw away from home in the first leg of this season after goals from Baier, Nmecha and Chukuemeka.

Frankfurt is currently ranked 8th in the standings with 43 points and needs a victory to have a chance to qualify for a European spot.

Niko Kovac said, "Frankfurt still has a chance to achieve the most basic goals, which will certainly make this game difficult, but we will focus on ourselves."

“After the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, we must show a completely different side and play the same way we did at home against Freiburg. This is the last home game of the season, and we hope to give the fans something to cheer about. Regardless of who the opponent is, we certainly want to show our best.”

On the other hand, Brandt, Süle, and Saleh Özcan will leave Dortmund at the end of this season, which means they will be wearing Dortmund jerseys for the last time at Signal Iduna Park.
