About Michael Carrick

The 44-year-old Carrick was born on July 28, 1981, in Wallsend, England. He is 1.88 meters tall and is a former legendary England international defensive midfielder who played for West Ham United, Swindon Town, Birmingham City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United.

After retiring in the summer of 2018, Carrick remained at Manchester United as an assistant coach. He later served as interim manager after the sacking of former manager José Mourinho, and even after his former teammate Ole-Gunnar Solskjær took over as manager, Carrick remained as an assistant coach.

In November 2021, following Solskjær's sacking, Carrick was appointed interim manager of Manchester United for the second time. During this spell, he managed the Red Devils in three matches, achieving an unbeaten record.

The following October, Carrick chose to leave and become Middlesbrough manager.

During his two-and-a-half-year spell at Boro, he led the club to the EFL Championship promotion play-offs once and reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals once, but was sacked in the summer of 2025 due to subsequent poor results.

In January 2026, following the sacking of former Portuguese head coach Ruben Amorim, Carrick returned to Manchester United for a third interim managerial role.

This season, so far, Carrick has managed the Premier League giants in 16 matches across all competitions, achieving 11 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses, with an impressive win percentage of 68.8%.
