Dunleavy: We hope Curry finishes his career with the Warriors.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. made it clear on Friday that he would work to push Stephen Curry to finish his career with the Golden State Warriors.

According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, Curry currently has no plans to retire. He hopes to play at least 20 seasons in the NBA and will begin contract extension negotiations with the Warriors. Given that his current contract expires after the 2026/27 season, the Warriors' management considers Curry's continued presence with the team a top priority.

On May 15th local time, the Warriors held their first press conference since Steve Kerr remained in charge. At the conference, when asked about Curry's contract extension, Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy responded, "Contract extension negotiations are just a matter of time. Our stance has always been very clear: we want Curry to finish his career with the Warriors. He can stay with the Warriors as long as he wants."

“Under any foreseeable circumstances, we will try to ensure that he remains a warrior until his death.”

For the Warriors, the 38-year-old Curry is an irreplaceable leader and spiritual icon. He has played for only one team in his career, leading the team to four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and winning numerous individual honors, including two regular season MVPs, one Finals MVP, two scoring titles, one steals title, 12 All-Star selections, and four All-NBA selections.

Even as he approaches his 18th season in the professional league, Curry continues to perform at a high level. Although he only played 43 regular season games last season due to injuries, he still averaged 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in his limited playing time.
