The Pistons officially announced the re-signing of Bickerstaff to continue managing the team.
2026-05-05 12:27May 5th - According to the Associated Press, the Detroit Pistons officially announced a contract extension with head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. The Pistons confirmed the decision on Monday after the team defeated the Orlando Magic to advance to the second round; contract details have not yet been released.
Since taking over the team in the 2024-25 season, Bickerstaff has led the Pistons to a 104-60 regular season record and made the playoffs for two consecutive years. This season, the team finished first in the Eastern Conference with a 60-22 record and defeated the Magic 116-94 in the first round, winning their first series victory since 2008.
It's worth noting that before Bickerstaff took over, the Pistons finished at the bottom of the league for two consecutive seasons. In the 2023-24 season, they only managed a dismal 14 wins and 68 losses.
