Rob Edwards stated that the rebuilding process at Compton Park has fully commenced this summer, with the team aiming for positive results in the future. With three games remaining for Wolves, the manager acknowledged that a positive season finish would boost team morale. However, he also understands that the truly crucial work will begin in the summer, when he and his coaching staff will start preparing for the new Championship season.
In a pre-match interview, Rob Edwards discussed the team's behind-the-scenes work and the players' physical condition.
Rob Edwards said: "It has indeed been a tough season, and I have never shied away from that. Before I came here, I knew what challenges we would face and how difficult this job would be, and I still do now. We started this journey with that understanding, and the future will still be full of difficulties. There will definitely be some challenges in the short term, but I am confident in what the team can achieve in the future and its long-term development."
"Right now, I must remain steadfast. I know there will be all sorts of different opinions from the outside world, but ultimately, our entire team is full of confidence. We have developed a very comprehensive plan and believe we can have a positive and successful summer. A lot of hard work actually started back in January. Next, we will have an important summer and officially begin preparations for the next season, which I am very much looking forward to."
"I know we will face some difficulties in the short term. The situation was different four weeks ago. Now we have been relegated and have suffered some tough results, so there will naturally be various opinions. What we need to do now is look forward. I know the team still has a few games to play, and these games are equally important, but what is really exciting is the goal we have the opportunity to achieve in the future."
In addition, Rob Edwards also spoke about Radyslav Krejci's fitness and work during the summer, saying, "Radislav Krejci has participated in training for the past two days and has therefore been able to rejoin the team for training. José Sá is still in the recovery phase and is not yet able to participate in training, but we hope he can return next week. He also participated in part of training today, which is a positive sign for us."
"Most of the players are currently in good physical condition. Hugo Bueno missed training earlier this week, but he has entered the final stage of his recovery, so it's not a big problem. Although we are still being somewhat cautious, the overall situation is satisfactory."
"The summer work is in full swing, and these plans have been underway since we took office. In January, we had to make some trade-offs and operate with a smaller squad. While we couldn't bring in a large number of players, this was to allow us to better complete the overall plan during the summer. There has been some positive progress, and we hope to act quickly and decisively. Of course, with the World Cup approaching, no deal will be easy to complete, so some things will take time to move forward, but our goal remains to finish most of the work as soon as possible."
