Carlos Colberán admitted that the team's goal is to earn more points to improve their position in the standings.

Valencia coach Carlos Colberán reviewed the team's 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in San Mamés during the post-match press conference.

Carlos Colberán said: "Some games allow us to play our own way, and the style of our opponents allows us to maintain our rhythm. But there are also games where it's difficult to fully showcase the team's competitive qualities. Today, I valued the team's determination and commitment, as well as their ability not to collapse after missing the penalty. The team's resilience and perseverance until the end were key to winning these three points."

“We were under a lot of pressure in this match, there’s no doubt about that. We were in a competitive environment where we had to win, every match felt like a final, while our opponents were still fighting for European qualification. Our goals were different, but equally important, and we controlled the situation well both in terms of the game and our emotions.”

“Now is not the time to feel frustrated. As a coach, I certainly want Valencia to be as high up in the standings as possible and get as many points as possible. When we don’t achieve that, we will reflect on ourselves. Some tactics work in some games but not in others, such as the games against Oviedo and Atletico Madrid, which were completely different. In some games, we responded correctly at the competitive level, but in others, our performance was not ideal.”

"So far, we have been using a midfield system with numbers 6, 8, and 10. We know that Athletic Bilbao is a very aggressive team and will press high, and one way to break that press is to control the midfield with two holding midfielders, which means deploying two number 6 players."

"This is also the main reason why we used two defensive midfielders in this game. At the same time, Pepelou showed his personality and sense of responsibility in difficult times, which is also a reward for his help to the team."

"The team is still fighting for everything, and we still have 9 points to fight for. For us, the most important thing is to rely on the support of the Mestalla Stadium to build a stronger sense of unity and make the team stronger. The support of the fans will help improve the team's performance, and both sides have a chance to get over the shadow of the last home defeat. 42 points are not enough to guarantee survival, so we must get as many points as possible."
