Kompany is happy that Bayern beat Wolfsburg and is looking to bounce back.

Bayern Munich defeated Wolfsburg 1-0 in the 33rd round of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, thanks to a second-half goal from Olise. Kompany stated that fitness and ball control were key to the team's victory and expressed his delight at the fighting spirit displayed by the team.

In the 33rd minute, Olise was tripped by Kuleakis as he received a lobbed pass from his teammate. After VAR intervention, the referee awarded Bayern Munich a penalty. Kane then took the penalty, but unfortunately, the ball went wide of the goal.

In the 56th minute, Laimer made a diagonal pass, and Olise received the pass, broke through the defense, and then scored with a long-range shot, helping Bayern Munich take a 1-0 lead.

Bayern Munich ultimately defeated Wolfsburg 1-0 away from home.

It's worth noting that Bayern Munich were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the earlier Champions League semi-final, so a victory against Wolfsburg will help Bayern Munich face the challenge of the German Cup final with confidence.

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said, "The problem wasn't the intention when pressing back. Teams don't always need to have the mentality of scoring three goals in the first 10 to 15 minutes to destroy the opponent. We started well, but lost patience. The game then became difficult. Ultimately, fitness will be key, and I think that's why we played much better in the second half, which is entirely related to our possession."

"We accomplished our goal in the second half, and that's a healthy kind of pride. When you score 120 goals in a season, everyone thinks the ball will automatically fly into the goal, but that's not the case."

Kompany also stated, "We had to wait for our opponents to tire before space would appear. I must commend the team again for their response; turning things around after halftime is not easy, but we did it. This was by no means an easy game, and we must respect their ability to compete head-to-head. We shouldn't be surprised if the game became more closely contested."

"Wolfsburg is fighting for survival, and we must respect that. I know it won't be easy to readjust in the second half and ultimately win the game, and we must acknowledge that."
