Sky Sports' resident renowned Italian transfer journalist Nicolò Schira exclusively reported on Monday that İstanbul Başakşehir will trigger the buy-out clause of on-loan Uzbek international striker Eldor Shomurodov from Roma.
According to the report, Roma have decided to part ways with Shomurodov at the end of the season, regardless of his performance.
İstanbul Başakşehir are very satisfied with Shomurodov's performance, and the player remains open to staying in Turkey.
Inside sources reveal that İstanbul Başakşehir are prepared to submit a €2.8 million offer for Shomurodov and sign him to a three-year deal which will run until the summer of 2029.
About Eldor Shomurodov
The 30-year-old Eldor Shomurodov was born on June 29, 1995, in Jarqoʻrgʻon, Surxondaryo Region, Uzbekistan. He is 1.90 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward, but can also play as a left winger.
Born into a footballing family, Shomurodov joined the Mash'al Mubarek youth academy at a young age and completed his Mash'al Mubarek first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in April 2014.
The following January, Shomurodov moved to local powerhouse Bunyodkor Toshkent.
In July 2017, Shomurodov joined Rostov.
During his two-year spell at Rostov, Shomurodov's high goal-scoring effiency attracted the attention of several clubs in Europe's top five leagues.
In October 2020, Shomurodov joined Genoa for €8 million, becoming the second Uzbek player, after Ilyos Zeytulayev, to join Genoa and play in the Serie A.
The following August, Shomurodov moved to Roma for €17.5 million.
During his five-year spell with I Giallorossi, Shomurodov won the UEFA Conference League once, becoming the first Uzbek player in football history to win a major UEFA tournament.
However, due to frequent changes in management and coaching staff at Roma, Shomurodov's status at the Serie A powerhouse vanished.
From January 2023 to the following summer, Shomurodov was successively loaned-out to Spezia and Cagliari.
Although he returned to Roma's first-team in the summer of 2024, he still didn't receive much recognition.
In July 2025, Shomurodov joined İstanbul Başakşehir on-loan.
This season, so far, Shomurodov has made 42 appearances for the Turkish Süper Lig club in all competitions o, scoring 21 goals and providing 5 assists.
