Egyptian star Mohamed Salah released a video on Sunday confirming his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season. Although his contract was originally set to expire in June 2027, both parties have agreed to part ways after negotiations.
In the video, Salah could not hide his excitement: "It's a pity that this day has finally come. This is the first part of my farewell statement: I will leave Liverpool at the end of this season."
"First of all, I want to say that I never imagined that this club, this city, and these people would become such a profound part of my life."
"Liverpool is more than just a football club; it's a passion, a history, a spirit. I can't explain it to anyone outside the club in words."
"We have celebrated victories together, winning the most important trophies. We have also gone through the most difficult moments of our lives together."
"I want to thank everyone who belongs to this club during my time here, especially my past and present teammates."
"As for the fans, my gratitude to you is beyond words. You supported me during the most glorious moments of my career and stood by me during the most difficult times. I will never forget this and will always remember it."
"Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you. "
"This club will always be home for me and my family."
"Thank you for everything you've done."
"Because of you, I will never walk alone."
The 33-year-old Salah previously played for Arab contractors, Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina, and Roma before transferring to Liverpool in July 2017 for £43 million. As Liverpool's attacking linchpin, he has made 435 appearances in the last nine years, scoring 255 goals and providing 122 assists. With the team, he has won one Champions League title, one Club World Cup title, two Premier League titles, one UEFA Super Cup title, one FA Cup title, two League Cup titles, and one Community Shield title.
It remains unclear where Salah will go next after leaving his current club this summer. The Saudi League, MLS, and Turkish Super League are considered the three leagues with the most interest in Salah so far, with several clubs, including Al-Hilal, Santiago FC, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas, closely monitoring his situation.
