Oliver Glasner has stated that Chris Richards will miss Crystal Palace's Premier League match against Arsenal this weekend and will be subject to further evaluation before the UEFA Association League final next Wednesday.
Ahead of his final two matches in charge of Crystal Palace, Oliver Glasner held a press conference to preview the upcoming games. He began by providing an update on Chris Richards, who felt unwell late in the team's penultimate match against Brentford.
Oliver Glasner said: "Chris Richards will also miss the game against Arsenal. At the moment, it's a 50/50 situation for both him and the team whether he can play in the final in Leipzig. He has torn two ligaments in his ankle. Fortunately, four other ligaments remain intact, so the overall situation is relatively stable."
"However, his ankle is quite swollen, and we need to find a way to reduce the swelling. He must recover as soon as possible to be ready for the match, so it will be a race against time. He has been receiving treatment at the hospital from morning till night, and we have been doing everything we can to help him reduce the swelling. Of course, we have an excellent medical team, so we will do our best. He will also fully cooperate, and we'll see how it goes in the end."
When asked whether he would rotate his squad ahead of next week's UEFA League match against Arsenal, who had already clinched the Premier League title earlier this week, manager Oliver Glasner said: "First of all, I want to congratulate Arsenal, their manager, players and staff. Winning the league title again after 22 years is a great achievement. They performed exceptionally well, and I also want to especially congratulate Eberrej Eze."
"For us, the league title race is already decided, which makes the pre-match preparations much smoother. As I mentioned before, we have to weigh which options will be most helpful to the team so that we can perform at our best on Thursday."
"We haven't given a final answer to this issue yet, and there are still many aspects to consider. We have to make multiple choices, but I'm confident we'll find the best solution. I might even change my mind multiple times in a single day, from a complete rotation to keeping the original lineup, to making partial adjustments; each option has its advantages and disadvantages."
