Manchester United confirm Casemiro will not play in their final Premier League match.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick revealed the team's latest squad updates ahead of Sunday's away game against Brighton in the final Premier League match of the season.

Manchester United have secured third place in the Premier League and have already qualified for next season's Champions League, while their rivals Brighton are fighting for a spot in European competitions.

Carrick confirmed in the pre-match press conference that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will not participate in this game. Casemiro made his 160th appearance for the team in Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend, and was substituted off to a standing ovation, marking his farewell at Old Trafford.

Speaking about this personnel decision, Carrick said in an interview: "Regarding Casemiro, I actually decided that last week was his last game. To be honest, I think everything went as smoothly as we all hoped."

“He has always performed exceptionally well, both in his help to me since I took over and in his contributions to the club as a whole. Everyone felt it was a good time for him to retire, and he was involved in making that decision.”

Carrick later added, "The last game doesn't mean our season is over, and we're very clear about that. So we need to find a balance between trying new things, moving forward, and respecting this last game. We want to go there, perform well, and try to win."

Regarding injuries, Carrick stated there was no further news. Benjamin Cesco remains sidelined with a shin injury, while Matthijs de Ligt, who recently underwent back surgery, is still recovering.
