NBA star P.J. Tucker announces his retirement; he won an NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.

NBA star P.J. Tucker officially announced on Thursday that he will end his 20-year professional career, effective immediately.


He posted on Instagram: "Basketball has been my profession for 20 years, but for over 40 years I have never been able to imagine doing anything else. So, this is the moment for me to say goodbye to the NBA... because I will never stop playing."


P.J. Tucker, 41, is a 6'6" (1.96m) and 111kg (5.5kg) forward who entered the NBA in 2006 as the 35th overall pick in the second round. He played 15 seasons in the NBA, playing for teams including the Toronto Raptors, Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and New York Knicks.


According to ESPN statistics, Tucker played a total of 886 games in the NBA regular season, averaging 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals in 28.2 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 42.5% and a three-point percentage of 36.6%. He also played 105 games in the playoffs, averaging 6.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 30.3 minutes per game, and won the 2021 NBA championship with the Bucks.


Outside of the NBA, Tucker's resume is equally impressive. In his early years, he played for several overseas teams, including the son of Israel's Hapoel Horon and Helzilia, Ukraine's Donetsk, Greece's Ares, Italy's Monte Granaro, Puerto Rico's Kobradias Pirates, and Germany's Bamberg.
