Constantinos Mavropanos believes the team had a poor start and lacked their usual energy and dynamism.

Following West Ham United's 1-3 away defeat to Newcastle United, Constantinos Mavropanos stated that the team's poor start directly led to the final loss and made their relegation battle even more difficult. West Ham United were aware of the importance of this match beforehand, but falling behind 0-2 within the first 20 minutes quickly caused them to lose control of the game.

In the match, Harvey Barnes capitalized on a West Ham United defensive error, creating a scoring opportunity for Nick Waltmard. William O'Sura then extended the lead with a fluid attack. About 20 minutes into the second half, West Ham United's defense faltered again, allowing William O'Sura to score his second goal, giving Newcastle United a three-goal lead. Although substitute Tatti Castellanos later rekindled West Ham United's hopes with a brilliant volley past Pope, the team ultimately failed to complete the comeback.

Speaking about the team's performance, Constantinos Mavropanos said: "First of all, we must apologize to the fans. They once again gave their full support to the team, but today we neither achieved the result they expected nor fulfilled the goals we hoped to achieve for the club."

“I think the team didn’t perform well at the start of the game and lacked the energy and dynamism we had in the past few months. We made some basic mistakes that we shouldn’t have made, although this happens occasionally in football. Unfortunately, we paid a heavy price for these mistakes in this game.”

"I think the team's performance improved in the second half. The opposing goalkeeper made several crucial saves, and we lacked some luck in some of our chances. But the final result is what it is; it was indeed a very difficult situation."

With the league nearing its end, West Ham United will host Leeds United in the final round. Theoretically, they still need Tottenham to lose their last two matches to keep their relegation hopes alive. Tottenham will travel to Chelsea on Wednesday, and if they manage to secure at least a point in that game, West Ham's 14-year Premier League campaign will essentially be over.

Speaking about the team's relegation situation, Constantinos Mavropanos added: "The situation is indeed very difficult right now. We can only wait for the results of Tottenham's games, but there is no doubt that it is a tough situation. The only thing we can do now is to stay professional and do our best to win the next game."

"We know the fans will be very disappointed because we didn't do what we wanted to do for them today. Now we can only wait and see how things develop this week."
