Marcus Tafnir urged the team to play at their highest level against Manchester City, emphasizing that team spirit is equally crucial.

Speaking about the upcoming home game against Manchester City, Marcus Tafnir said Bournemouth must play their best to have a chance to limit their former teammate Antoine Semenho's performance. He also emphasized the significance of the match at the Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth are currently on a 16-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, setting a new league record for the longest unbeaten run this season.  

The midfielder was well aware that Bournemouth were about to face one of the Premier League title contenders, along with former teammate Antoine Semenho, who had played a crucial role in the team's success.  

Marcus Tafnir said: “When you face Manchester City, you know you are playing against one of the best teams in the league. It’s very difficult to play at a high level, let alone get a good result from them. It will be a tough challenge, but we are looking forward to this kind of game. It is a very important match for both sides, and we are well aware of that.”  

“This match is significant for them, but it’s equally important for us. The results of the next two matches are entirely in our own hands. Antoine Semenho was a key member of the team’s success last season and before joining Manchester City this season. It will be very difficult to face him again; he has the ability to change the course of a game, so we must give our best to limit him.”  

Bournemouth are currently on a 16-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, a feat that has garnered attention across European football. In the 2025/26 season, only AC Milan and Bayern Munich hold the longest unbeaten streak in Europe's top five leagues. Marcus Tafnir stated that the team's success is not only due to their performance on the pitch, but also to their internal cohesion and fighting spirit.

During the team's unbeaten run, James Hill played every minute of every game. Marcus Tafnir specifically praised his teammate's performance, saying, "James Hill is one of the best examples. He's been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, and we've always believed that he would reach this level sooner or later. His partnership with Marcos Senesi is excellent, which is not surprising to those within the club."
