Marcelino: The team was lacking in both attacking and finishing, therefore the opponent deserved the victory.

After losing 0-2 away to Rayo Vallecano, Villarreal coach Marcelino García Toral admitted that the opponent played better overall, and also said that the team will make quick adjustments and focus on the important match against Atlético Madrid next week.  

After the match, Villarreal coach Marcelino García Toral said, "Rayle Canno played better and they deserved to win. We started well, but the first goal we conceded had a big impact on us. We lacked the ability to penetrate deep into the game and we also lacked the efficiency to finish matches."  

"In the second half, a mistake allowed them to extend their lead to 2-0. We didn't start creating any real chances until the very end of the game. We congratulate our opponents on their victory."  

When discussing the race for third place in La Liga, Marcelino García Toral expressed his regret that the team failed to gain more points in recent matches against Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano. This has put the team in a passive position in the ranking competition, and they now must win against Atlético Madrid to secure third place in the league.  

Marcelino García Toral said: "Our destiny was originally in our own hands, and it still is. But only getting 1 point in the last 3 games has cost us the chance to achieve our goal early. Things haven't gone as we hoped, so we have to face them head-on. This game will determine who finishes third and who finishes fourth."  

Finally, Marcelino García Toral expressed his delight at the return of Willy Campuwara and Logan Costa. He said, "This is very good news. Both players deserve these playing times. They had both suffered serious injuries, and we are all very happy to see them back on the field."
