Counter Strike 2: Rare Atom (RA) part ways with head coach, Liu Zhenghui (ID: z8z)..

Shanghai-based esports powerhouse Rare Atom (RA) announced on its official Weibo account on Wednesday that it has parted ways with its Counter Strike 2 (CS2) team head coach, Liu Zhenghui (ID: z8z).

According to RA's official statement, z8z resigned as head coach after thorough communication and amicable negotiation between both parties.

Although their partnership has temporarily ended, RA is very grateful for z8z's selfless dedication, hard work, and impeccable professionalism during the team's successful development and wishes him all the best for the future.

In fact, z8z is the second player to part ways with RA recently.

In April, rifler Li Jiaming (ID: x9), who had joined the team just one month prior, also left.

During this spell, the 22-year-old former Fengda Gaming (FDG) player won the VOID Spring Cup with his team, but subsequently only managed 4th place in the Yuqilin Pinnacle of Battle Season 3 and the Huya GangKui Cup Season 3.

Liu Zhenghui (ID: z8z), 36, previously served as a coach at Flash Gaming (FG) from October 2017 to early 2019, and became the head coach of RA in 2022.

During this time, he helped his team win the Asia Super League Season 4, the XSE Pro League Season 3, and the Huya GangKui Cup Season 1 championships. They also participated in the Perfect World Shanghai Major, but was eliminated in the group stage.

RA has lost to Hangzhou powerhouse TYLOO in several different tournaments over the past two months.

Coupled with their previous elimination in the quarterfinals of the ZHI-TECH Elite Masters and their failure to qualify for the BLAST Open Rotterdam, PGL Bucharest, and Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Cologne qualifiers, z8z is undoubtedly considered one of the main culprits for the team's repeated setbacks.

Rare Atom (RA), which has had a poor start to 2026, has currently slipped to 11th place in the Asian VRS rankings.

RA will begin their Asia Champions League campaign at their home turf (Shanghai) next Monday (May 11th).

Since RA has not announced their new head coach yet, Malaysian assistant coach kaze is expected to temporarily take over the team's coaching duties during the tournament.
