The 76ers begin a general manager transition in search of a new direction for winning a championship.

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking for a new general manager. Management has made it clear that the new candidate must be a team player with a single goal: to lead the team to a championship.

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia 76ers fired Daryl Morey after six years in the job. Morey led the team to the playoffs five times during his time in Philadelphia, but they were never able to advance beyond the second round.

In this year's playoffs, the 76ers were swept by the New York Knicks. Furthermore, Morey traded Jared McCain in February, and McCain's subsequent outstanding performance with the Oklahoma City Thunder put him under considerable external pressure.

Bob Myers, who led the Golden State Warriors to four championships, is in charge of the search and joined the 76ers last year. Myers emphasized that the next general manager cannot work alone but must be able to work harmoniously with the team. He values the candidate's character and leadership and plans to complete the hiring before the NBA draft begins on June 23.

Myers bluntly stated that the 76ers need to face reality. He would ask candidates during interviews: Can the current core roster—Embiid, Paul George, and young Maxi and Eichcom—really win games? Regarding Embiid's injury and George's suspension, Myers pointed out that the team's bench depth is more important than ever.

Despite the management change, team partner Harris stated that head coach Nick Nurse's position is secure and he will remain in his role next season. Harris also addressed concerns about cost-cutting, stating that the team is prepared to pay the luxury tax if they can win the championship and has no budget constraints.

The 76ers hope that this overhaul of their management will get the team back on track for next year's playoffs. As Myers said, winning a championship isn't about one person, but about the effort of the entire team.
