Carrick: The team is improving, and my future with the team will be decided in the next few days.

After leading Manchester United to a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest and securing third place in the Premier League this season, manager Michael Carrick attended the post-match press conference at Old Trafford for the final game of the season.

When asked if securing third place in the league and saying goodbye to some players meant a perfect afternoon, Carrick said: "It was a great day. We are very clear that we want to finish the season with high momentum."

"As a team and a club, we have made great progress. At this stage, it is easy to become complacent and lose that extra drive. To finish like we did today is a great day for us for many reasons."

Regarding the highly anticipated question of his future career, Carrick gave a clear timeline: "Things are pretty clear now, and things will become clear in the next few days."

"Everything today is about getting the right result and keeping the focus on the individual players. So whatever the news is, I'm sure you'll know in a few days."

When asked how Manchester United can go further and return to title contention, Carrick calmly analyzed: "I think there are two aspects. First, we need to understand where we want to be and compare it to our past performance; second, we need to understand what steps we need to take."

“I truly believe that achieving what we have now is a huge accomplishment, and the players deserve recognition. You just want to keep improving. The higher you rank in the league, the harder the road ahead becomes. You have to take big steps, but taking those steps also becomes more difficult.”
