Marcelino admitted that Sevilla played better overall, so their victory was deserved.

Villarreal manager Marcelino García Toral reviewed the team's 2-3 defeat to Sevilla in front of the media after the match. The Asturian coach praised the team's performance in the first 30 minutes but also expressed regret for failing to maintain their good form afterward.

Marcelino García Toral said: "It's hard to explain what happened in the game. We started very well, creating a lot of chances and being very efficient in front of goal. But then we gradually lost our rhythm, gave the opponent more space, and our possession, positioning, and intensity of the game all declined. Sevilla played better than us overall, so we congratulate them because they deserved the victory."

Similarly, the Asturian coach pointed out that Villarreal's ability to turn the game around in the second half depends on whether the team can return to the level they showed at the start of the match. He stated, "We know that if we can return to the level we displayed in the first 30 minutes, we have a chance to win. But if we play like we did in the last 15 minutes of the first half, we will lose. We cannot change the course of the game; although the opponents didn't create many chances, they were very clinical. We conceded goals too easily, and our overall performance was not ideal."

Finally, Marcelino García Toral admitted that Sevilla's hunger for victory ultimately proved to be the key factor in deciding the match, while Villarreal had already achieved their main objective for the season. He added, "We have achieved our main objective, and finishing third is our task, but we lacked a crucial edge. You must understand that when the game is going against us, we lack the drive to make an impact."
