Weiss returns to the team after 14 years, replacing Calzona as Slovakia's head coach.

The Slovak Football Association (SFZ) announced on Tuesday that Vladimir Weiss has returned to the national team coaching position after 14 years. He will replace Francisco Calzona, who resigned earlier, and lead the team in two friendly matches in June.

Regarding the contract length and related details, the Slovak Football Association and Weiss have not yet reached an agreement. Karol Bellanike, one of the vice presidents of the Football Association, stated: "Our committee has submitted a proposal to the Executive Committee to approve Vladimir Weiss as the head coach of the Slovak national team. The Executive Committee members unanimously approved the proposal. The president of the Football Association and I have also been authorized to negotiate the contract terms with the coach in the coming days."

Before taking over the national team, Weiss was in his second term as coach of the Slovakian national team. Although he still had a year left on his contract, the club ultimately decided to release him without compensation. Belanic was extremely grateful, stating, "We are very grateful to the club owner, Ivan Kemotrik, and the general manager for their understanding; they fully considered the needs of the Slovakian national team and released Weiss without receiving any compensation."

Weis, 61, is considered a leading figure among Slovakian coaches. At the club level, he has coached Petzalka, Ramenskoye Saturn, Slavia Bratislava, and Kelati, leading them to eight Slovakian Super League titles, three Slovakian Cup titles, and two Kazakhstan Cup titles.

At the national team level, Weiss has served as head coach of both Slovakia and Georgia. He first coached the Slovakian national team from July 2008 to January 2012, leading the team to a historic run to the Round of 16 in the 2010 World Cup.
