Spanish online media outlet Relevo's resident renowned Italian transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, exclusively reported on Tuesday that Liverpool's stance on extending defender Ibrahima Konaté's contract has suddenly changed.
According to Moretto, both sides had essentially reached an agreement on several personal terms, a new weekly wage, and performance-related bonuses. However, Liverpool has suddenly changed its mind, creating uncertainty surrounding the contract extension.
It is understood that Konaté's inconsistent performances this season are a major factor contributing to Liverpool's potential reluctance to extend his contract. Furthermore, there are currently no indications that both sides will reach an agreement in another manner.
Moretto added that there are currently no signs that Real Madrid has restarted its efforts to sign Konaté on a free transfer. Therefore, with the news that Liverpool may have abandoned their efforts to extend his contract, Konaté's future remains uncertain.
