Athletic Bilbao right-back Inigo Leku will officially retire at the end of this season at the age of 33.

Athletic Bilbao announced on Monday that Inigo Leku will officially retire at the end of this season.

The 33-year-old Leku primarily plays as a right-back, but can also play as a left-back, right midfielder, and other positions. He received his early training at Danok Bats and joined Athletic Bilbao's satellite team, Bascona, in 2012.

On August 15, 2015, Leku made his debut for Athletic Bilbao in a 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup. He has played for Bilbao for 11 seasons, making 281 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 14 assists, winning one Copa del Rey title and two Spanish Super Cup titles with the team.

Now, Leku has decided to end his 14-year professional career. In his official farewell video, he said emotionally, "I have always been an Athletic Bilbao fan. To be able to play for the team I have loved all my life for 11 seasons has been a dream come true."

"It has been a long and wonderful journey. Most importantly, I have had great partners who have been with me all the way."

Finally, Leku concluded: "Whether at home, in the locker room, or on the pitch, I've always been a member of the team. Now, I'll be sitting in the stands as a fan. See you at San Mamés Stadium!"
