Bournemouth to conduct internal investigation into defender Álex Jiménez, who is suspected of sending inappropriate private messages to a 15-year-old underage girl..

Bournemouth announced on their official website on Saturday that they will conduct an internal investigation into Spain U21s international defender Álex Jiménez, who is suspected of sending inappropriate private messages to a 15-year-old underage girl.

According to the official statement, the club is aware of allegations circulating on social media which claimed that Jiménez has sent inappropriate private messages to a 15-year-old girl and takes the matter very seriously.

As part of the investigation, Jiménez will be suspended for this weekend's match against Fulham.

Furthermore, according to British tabloid newspaper The Sun, Jiménez is accused of frequently exchanging private messages with a 15-year-old girl recently.

In the messages, Jiménez allegedly conveyed inappropriate messages to the girl, saying that he "likes smaller girls and has never had sexual relations with a 15-year-old."

If these allegations are true, Jiménez could become the second Premier League player, after former Manchester City England international winger Adam Johnson, to face imprisonment for sexually grooming a minor.

In 2015, Johnson, then playing for Sunderland, was also convicted of sexually grooming a 15-year-old underage girl and engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with her. He was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, prematurely ending his promising professional football career.

About Álex Jiménez

The 21-year-old Jiménez was born on May 8, 2000, in Leganés, Spain. He is 1.77 meters tall and primarily plays as a right wing-back, but can also play as a left wing-back, right winger, or left winger.

Jiménez joined the Talavera youth academy at a young age, and after the club went bankrupt, he joined Real Madrid's renowned La Fabrica youth academy in 2012, began playing for Real Madrid B in 2022. During this spell, his outstanding performances attracted the attention of scouts from Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

In July 2023, Jiménez was loaned-out to AC Milan, making his first-team debut for the club in January of the following year in a Coppa Italia match against Cagliari.

Due to his excellent performances, the Serie A giants permanently bought out Jiménez's ownership rights in March 2024 for €5 million.

On the 2025 summer transfer window deadline day, Jiménez joined Bournemouth on-loan, with his rights later being permanently bought out in February of this year for £17 million.

Since joining the Cherries, Jiménez has made 32 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
