On May 8th, the Charlotte Hornets officially announced that they have extended the contract of head coach Charles Lee. However, the specific length and amount of the contract were not disclosed.

In Charles' second season as head coach, the Hornets achieved 44 wins, a full 25 more than the previous season, setting a new franchise record for the largest annual win increase. The team was on fire in the second half of the regular season, winning 28 and losing 10 of their last 38 games , and advancing to the play-in tournament. Although they ultimately lost to the Orlando Magic, the team's overall performance had clearly improved.

Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson stated that Charles has established a clear direction for the team and achieved significant results in player development and team culture. Charles, in turn, expressed confidence in the team's future, noting the positive growth atmosphere.

Data shows that from January 1st to the end of the regular season, the Hornets ranked first in the league in net rating ( +10.5 ) , and fifth in offensive rating ( 120.7 ) and defensive rating ( 110.2 ) .
