Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown fined $50,000 for verbally abusing a referee during a live stream..

The NBA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee announced Tuesday via its official X (Twitter) account that Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown has been fined $50,000 for verbally abusing a referee during a recent live stream.

According to the NBA's official statement, Vice President of Basketball Operations James Jones had zero tolerance for Brown's disorderly conduct, and given his repeated offenses, the decision was made to impose a $50,000 fine.

The Celtics were eliminated in Game 7 of their first-round playoff series on Saturday night, losing 100-109 to the Philadelphia 76ers. Brown committed the most offensive fouls in the series. The following day, he went live on his Twitch channel, stating that the referees were "clearly biased against him."

Brown said during the live stream, "Maybe it's because I criticized the referees during the regular season, so they responded, 'You're definitely going to be the player with the most offensive fouls in the playoffs.' That's the refereeing staff's reaction. It's obvious."

"I've also spoken to some referees, and they said it's like that every game. 'So, whenever Jaylen raises his arm, they call a foul, just because of his reputation.'"

Furthermore, Brown openly stated during the live stream that he thinks Joel Embiid "flops too much," and said, "Flopping ruins our game."

In fact, the Boston Celtics star has already been fined numerous times this season for verbally abusing referees.

In January of this year, Brown was also fined $35,000 for publicly insulting referee Curtis Blair.

At the time, the Celtics lost to the San Antonio Spurs 95-100, and Brown called Blair and his refereeing staff "terrible." After the game, Brown angrily denounced the referees' calls as "outrageous inconsistency," stating that the Celtics always encounter "the same frustrating situation" when facing strong teams.

Even after being fined in January, Brown continued to express his dissatisfaction with the officiating abilities of several NBA referees, listing several reasons why the Celtics deserve more respect from the referees.

This season, the 29-year-old Brown played 71 regular season games, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 47.7%.
