French esports club Vitality announced on Thursday via its official X (Twitter) account that it is disbanding its StarCraft II division, effective immediately.
According to Vitality's official statement, the club expressed its deep gratitude to its roster's Korean members – Maru, CranK, Ryung, and Zoun – for their contributions and efforts to the team over the past two years, and will cherish every moment of triumph. The club also wishes them all the best for the future.
With the disbandment of this division, Vitality's naming rights agreement with the Korean club ONSYDE will also end.
Maru, CranK, Ryung, and Zoun will continue to compete under the ONSYDE banner.
Vitality's withdrawal from the StarCraft II esports scene coincides with the game's exclusion from this year's Esports World Cup.
Following the decision to remove StarCraft II from the tournament, the player community has continued to express disappointment at the absence of StarCraft II and real-time strategy game events in this multi-game tournament.
In February 2024, Vitality signed a strategic naming rights agreement with ONSYDE.
During this spell, the roster members participated in Korean domestic tournaments under the OFFSYDE banner in 2024.
Over the two years of operation, Vitality nurtured several promising Korean players. Among them, ace Terran player Maru and Zerg player Solar stood out.
Solar helped Vitality achieve second place in the 2024 WTL Summer Finals, subsequently earning the opportunity to transfer to the Saudi state-owned club Falcons.
The already exceptional Maru, during his two years with Vitality, helped the team win the DreamHack Dallas championship in 2025 and achieve a top-eight finish at the Esports World Cup.
