The Thunder and Spurs face off in a Western Conference Finals showdown, officially kicking off their quest for the NBA Finals.

May 18th - The NBA Western Conference Finals matchups have been officially announced: the Oklahoma City Thunder ( 6-4 wins ) will face the San Antonio Spurs ( 62 wins ) . The first game will be played on Monday in Oklahoma City.

The phrase Western Conference Finals alone is incredible, said Wenbanyama . I’ve heard that phrase since I was a child, and now that I’m actually standing here, it feels very special.

This series marks the seventh time in NBA history that two teams have achieved at least 62 wins in a single season in the playoffs. The last time a matchup of this caliber was held was in the 1998 NBA Finals.

Thunder head coach Mark DeGnott said it was a " respectable series " and stressed that the team must play at its best to advance.

The Thunder have remained undefeated in the playoffs so far, extending their nine-game winning streak across seasons, and hold a clear advantage in experience and rotation depth. In contrast, the Spurs have stormed into the Western Conference Finals against all odds, and are considered one of the biggest dark horses of the season.
