The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Thursday that it has extended the contract of national team coach Carlo Ancelotti by four years, until the end of the 2030 World Cup, on top of the original contract which was set to expire this July.
Since taking over as manager of Brazil in May 2025, the 66-year-old Ancelotti has achieved a record of 5 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses in 10 matches. He has also led the team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals ahead of schedule, successfully achieving his primary goal upon taking office.
Following the contract extension, Ancelotti stated: "I arrived in Brazil a year ago. From the very first minute, I understood the meaning of football to this country. For nearly a year, we have been dedicated to leading the Brazilian national team back to the top of the world. However, the Brazilian Football Confederation and I want more. More victories, more time, and more effort."
"We are very pleased to announce that we will continue our partnership for another four years. Let's work together towards the 2030 World Cup. I would like to thank the Brazilian Football Confederation for their trust. I am also very grateful for the warm hospitality and care shown to me by Brazil."
Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) President Samir Saud added: “Today is a historic day for the CBF and Brazilian football. Carlo Ancelotti’s contract extension marks another solid step forward in fulfilling our commitment to building a stronger, more modern, and more competitive system for a five-time champion Brazil. We work day after day to ensure Brazil remains at the highest level of world football, while also closely monitoring the development of national teams at all levels, the competitions organized by the CBF, and the development of clubs and associations throughout the country.”
Brazilian Football Confederation Vice President Gustavo Diaz concluded by saying, "Ancelotti's resume and career speak for themselves. But beyond that, he is an outstanding individual. We are extremely satisfied with the work he has done since taking office. His four-year extension demonstrates our trust in this solid project, built on balance, experience, and a grand vision for the future. We believe this contract extension will further strengthen the bond between the national team and Brazilian fans, and continue the joy that football has always brought to our country."
