Lorient striker Bamba Dion has announced his departure this summer as his contract expires, leaving his next destination uncertain.

Bamba Dion released a statement on Tuesday confirming that he will leave Lorient as a free agent after his contract expires this summer.


The 26-year-old Dieng, from Piquín, Senegal, joined Lorient from Marseille in January 2023 for €7 million. A 1.87-meter tall center forward, he has made 60 appearances for Lorient, contributing 23 goals and 2 assists.


It's worth mentioning that Dion was loaned out by Lorient to Angers for development during the 2024/25 season. Transfermarkt data shows he made 20 appearances for Angers, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists.


In his farewell statement posted on Instagram, Dion expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the entire Lorient team: "After several wonderful years at the club, my career is about to turn a new page. I sincerely thank the club, coaching staff, teammates, and of course the fans for their trust, support and love throughout this journey."

As of now, Dieng has not yet finalized his next destination. His latest market value on Transfermarkt is €6 million, and he has attracted strong interest from several European clubs, including Freiburg, Hoffenheim, Real Betis, and Bologna.
