Köln completes contract extension with German defender Timo Hübers..

Köln announced on their official website on Thursday that they have extended the contract of their German defender Timo Hübers.

According to Köln's official statement, despite Hübers having been sidelined with a serious injury since October, the club decided to extend his contract. Hübers has signed on a short-term one-year contract with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Hübers, who was interviewed by the Köln official website again, said: "The support and encouragement I received after my injury have warmed my heart. Köln's management has supported me from the beginning, allowing me to focus on my recovery without worrying about the future. I am very grateful for this."

"I have maintained close contact with Thomas Kessler (Köln's sporting director). I am very proud, and the fact that my contract has been extended is the best proof of that. At the same time, I still feel very comfortable at the Geisbockheim training ground. I will definitely repay this trust with all my might. Ideally, I hope to return to the field and get back to my pre-injury form."

About Timo Hübers

The 29-year-old Hübers was born on July 20, 1996, in Hildesheim, Germany. He is 1.90 meters tall and plays as a center-back.

Hübers joined Hannover 96's youth academy at the age of 12 but was released in 2015.

After leaving Hannover 96, Hübers joined Köln as a free agent and began playing for their reserve team in August 2015. 

The following summer, Hübers returned to Hannover 96 as a free agent and completed his first-team debut in April 2018.

After his contract expired in the summer of 2021, Hübers returned to Köln as a free agent.

Since joining Köln, so far, Hübers has made 135 appearances for the Bundesliga club in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists, winning one 2. Bundesliga title with the team.
