Sevilla manager Luis García Praza spoke about his team's feelings after securing their La Liga survival early in a post-match interview. Despite the home defeat to Real Madrid, he remained pleased with their achievement of staying in La Liga.
Luis García Praza said: "This is the result of the team's collective effort. I think the team played a game that we shouldn't have lost, and the opponent only had one shot on goal the whole game. I also reviewed the replay after the game, and there was actually a very obvious foul before that goal."
“But most importantly, we have achieved our goal. These have been the most intense and difficult six weeks of my life, but the team has ultimately secured a very good number of points. During the most difficult times, it was the fans who gave us strength, so this survival belongs to the fans, the players, and the entire coaching staff. I would also like to thank Matias Almeida, who also contributed 31 points to the team.”
Speaking highly of the fans' support, Luis García Praza said, "The Sevilla fans realized that the team was going through a difficult period, and they gave us renewed strength. The team has also been improving in terms of its performance, and we deserved a draw, whether it was against Pamplona or today. All the factors are mutually reinforcing; the fans rediscovered their passion, which helped the team achieve results again."
Speaking about the match, Luis García Praza believed Sevilla fully deserved points against Real Madrid. He said, "Twelve points in eight games is a pretty good result. Today the team put in enough effort to try for a draw, we fought until the end, but we just couldn't capitalize on our chances."
“I must commend these players; they have bounced back and proven that they have more ability than people think. The team was almost collapsing in the Pamplona game. Therefore, I cherish the results we have achieved even more because the situation was indeed very difficult at that time. I took over a team with low morale.”
“The players made me feel I had to be at my best at all times, and it was a really tough experience. We hadn’t had a break for 19 days straight, but now it’s time to be happy about achieving our goal. Sevilla is a great club, but first we had to make sure we stayed in the league, and the outside world was expecting us to do it in a near-miraculous way.”
