João Gomez: We must remain professional and fight for the fans who support the team and the city.

João Gomez frankly admitted that his deep affection for Wolverhampton and its fans made the disappointment of this season all the more intense. The Brazilian player has been with the club for three and a half years, making 115 appearances, but the team suffered a difficult season and was ultimately relegated to the Championship.

The 25-year-old is eager to be selected for the national team's World Cup squad this summer. He will play his farewell match at the Molineux Stadium on Sunday and hopes to end this difficult season with a hard-fought victory.

João Gomez said: “It’s not easy to keep going, but we have to keep fighting and I will do my job. We need to stay professional and fight for the fans and the city. My son was born here, the city is wonderful, and the people are wonderful, so it’s really tough.”

“We are very disappointed. Conceding two goals so early in the game made it very difficult. But we can’t dwell on the past; we must focus on the next game. I am very sad, not just myself, but also my family and the fans here. I love this city and its people, and this is a huge blow to me.”

Speaking about the upcoming World Cup, João Gomez said, "It's every player's dream. If you ask many players, they will all say they want to participate in the World Cup. I'm not sure yet whether I will be selected; it depends on the coach's decision. But if he calls on me, I will be 100% ready."

"When it comes to the Brazilian national team, I still think it is the best team in the world. Of course, winning the championship is very difficult because there are many strong teams, but I will do my best for my country."
