John McGinn admitted that beating Liverpool was a very significant victory for the team.

Aston Villa defeated Liverpool 4-2 to secure a Champions League spot for next season, and captain John McGinn was visibly ecstatic after the match. He scored a late goal himself, adding a perfect ending to this significant night. Unai Emery's Aston Villa also defeated the reigning Premier League champions in their final home game of the season at Villa Park.  

John McGinn spoke highly of the team's achievement after securing Champions League qualification for the second time in three seasons. He said , " We had to achieve our goal, and our recent league performances haven't been ideal. We were facing a top team, and although I know Liverpool haven't been at their best lately, it's still a great home win and sends a strong signal for the next game."

We still have a chance to compete for a trophy, and the fact that the club can continue to compete in the Champions League next season is a remarkable achievement in itself."  

Next, Aston Villa will travel to Istanbul for the Europa League final on Thursday. This means John McGinn has the opportunity to help the team win their first trophy in over 30 years.  

The 31-year-old reminded the team to stay focused, as reaching such a final had always been his childhood dream. He added , " This would be the pinnacle of my Aston Villa career. I hope to lift that trophy after the game, and that's exactly what we have to strive for."
