Matthäus Fernández stated that regardless of the current situation, the team will give their all to finish the season with a victory.

Following West Ham United's 1-3 away defeat to Newcastle United, Matthäus Fernández stated that the team must take responsibility for the loss, which also severely jeopardized West Ham's relegation prospects. West Ham struggled early at St. James' Park, conceding two goals within the first 20 minutes, with goals from Nick Waltmard and William Osura giving Newcastle United an early lead.  

About 20 minutes into the second half, William Osura scored his second goal, further extending Newcastle United's lead. Although substitute Tatti Castellanos subsequently gave West Ham United renewed hope with a brilliant goal, the team ultimately failed to complete the comeback.  

In a post-match interview, Matthäus Fernández admitted that West Ham United had a poor start to their away game against Newcastle United. Although the team gradually improved in the later stages of the match, overall, the players failed to effectively implement the tactics deployed in training into the game.  

Matthäus Fernández said: "At this moment, we all have to take responsibility. The performance in the game ultimately depends on the players, and today's result is very painful for us. We have been training all week and have made specific plans for the game, but when we actually got here, we failed to show those things. It is very frustrating and difficult to explain to the fans and coaches."  

“We did score and create some chances, but ultimately we couldn’t achieve our goal. We know very well that only by winning the game can we put pressure on Tottenham, and the situation has become very difficult.”  

With this defeat, West Ham United remain in the relegation zone. With only one round of the league remaining and a home game against Leeds United, they are still two points behind 17th-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Currently, West Ham not only need a win in their final match, but also require Tottenham to lose their remaining two games against Chelsea and Everton to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.  

Matthäus Fernández stated that regardless of the final outcome, West Ham United will give their all when they return to the London stadium this weekend, responding to the fans' support with a positive performance. He said, "We can only continue to believe in ourselves and keep working hard. We know the situation is difficult right now, but anything can happen in the world of football, so we must always be prepared."
