Aston Villa will play their final match of the 2025-26 season at Villa Park against Premier League champions Liverpool.
In a pre-match interview, manager Unai Emery said that the team is ready to be tested against a strong Liverpool side and hopes to secure a top-five finish in the Premier League with the support of the home fans.
Emery spoke highly of Liverpool. He pointed out that as last year's Premier League champions, Liverpool were already considered favorites to win the title. Although Liverpool's performance this season has been inconsistent, they remain a formidable team.
Emery was proud that Aston Villa had caught up with Liverpool on points by the 37th round of the league. He remarked, "We're on the same points as them now, which is fantastic."
"Now we need to see how we test ourselves in the game. I think this proves the team's progress, and it feels great to be able to play against them at this stage."
As the final home game of the season, Emery has high hopes for the atmosphere at Villa Park. He recalled how the fervent atmosphere created by the fans during the previous European semi-final gave the players tremendous strength.
He emphasized that the team's stability is inseparable from the support of the fans. Emery called on everyone to come and fight alongside them: "Tomorrow's game will be great. At Villa Park, we need to create a fantastic atmosphere, and the fans must be with us."
“We need the fans, and they have shown a desire to fight alongside the team, creating that atmosphere. Our stability only makes sense when the fans support us.”
Aston Villa are currently just one step away from finishing in the top five of the Premier League. Emery stated that the whole team is highly motivated and eager to reward their home fans with a victory.
