Arsenal defeat West Ham United: A top-level match

Arsenal, nicknamed "The Gunners," defeated West Ham, nicknamed "The Hammers," 1-0 in a key match of the 36th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season, thanks to a second-half goal from Trossard. Arteta stated that it was a match where both teams had significant goals to achieve, and a top-level contest.

The deadlock wasn't broken until the 83rd minute of the second half when Ødegaard received a pass from Rice, evaded the defense, and crossed the ball. Trossard seized the opportunity and fired a shot into the net, giving Arsenal a 1-0 lead.

In the second half stoppage time, West Ham's corner kick was cleared, and Callum Wilson curled a shot into the net. However, after VAR intervention, it was determined that Pablo had interfered with Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, so the goal was disallowed.

Arsenal ultimately defeated West Ham 1-0 in this London derby.

After securing three consecutive wins, Arsenal currently sits atop the league table with 79 points, five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who have played one game less.

But the most beautiful thing about this team is that the substitutes are always ready to step up and change the game. They have an incredible impact, and Ødegaard made an almost magical assist for Trossard's goal."

Arteta also said, "Then there were two other key moments, including David Raya's save in the 78th minute and the disallowed goal in the final moments of the game. It was a very brave process because I think that action deserves serious scrutiny."

"This gave the referee a chance to see the whole thing clearly. When he saw the replay, I thought it was obviously a mistake and the goal had to be disallowed. Despite the immense pressure, I'm very happy because I ultimately made the right decision."
