Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira admitted on Sunday that he could not guarantee Elliott Anderson would stay at City Stadium next season.
Anderson, 23, came through the Newcastle United youth academy and transferred to Nottingham Forest in July 2024 for £35 million. He mainly plays as a central midfielder and defensive midfielder, and has made 90 appearances for Nottingham Forest so far, scoring 6 goals and providing 9 assists.
Thanks to his outstanding performances at the club level, Anderson has become one of the key transfer targets for both Manchester City and Manchester United this summer. Although his current contract with Forest runs until 2029, his market value has skyrocketed to a staggering £120 million in less than two years.
On May 10th local time, Anderson scored the crucial goal in Nottingham Forest's 1-1 draw against Newcastle United. After the match, when Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira was asked about Anderson's future, he replied: "I can't say for sure whether he will stay, I have no answer. I know he deserves to be at the top of the world."
“I know he is our player. We need to enjoy his performance. I have played alongside many top talents, but it is not easy to find a player who has both talent and outstanding character.”
Finally, Pereira concluded: "I'm not thinking about next season right now; I just want us to finish this season in the best possible position." Nottingham Forest currently sits 15th in the Premier League with 43 points from 11 wins, 10 draws, and 15 losses, a full 7 points clear of the relegation zone.
