The 33rd round of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season will feature another crucial match, with Bayern Munich traveling to face Wolfsburg. Kompany stated that it's normal for the players to be disappointed at failing to reach the Champions League final, but they must recover and look to the future from the next day onwards.
In the earlier Champions League semi-final second leg, Bayern Munich, trailing behind, were ultimately eliminated by defending champions Paris Saint-Germain with a 5-6 aggregate score after Alphonso Davies assisted Harry Kane to score, thus failing to advance to the final.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said, "Disappointment is normal because it was a very important goal and we put a lot of effort into it. But from the second day onwards, everything is about the future. My job is to refocus our attention on the future and how we should respond."
“We Belgians are very pragmatic. If the Bundesliga’s goal difference has reached a historic 81 goals, it means the team has done a lot and made sure we don’t lose. We won the game, and the goal difference data shows that we beat our opponents with a huge advantage.”
After the Bundesliga season concludes, Bayern Munich will travel to Berlin to participate in the German Cup semi-finals, where their opponent will be Stuttgart.
Kompany stated, "What we want to show is that past setbacks are in the past. What matters now is what we can still achieve, not just in the coming weeks, but in the longer term."
Furthermore, Bayern Munich will face Wolfsburg, who are currently 16th in the standings with 26 points and are still not out of danger of relegation.
Kompany said, "We can't underestimate the atmosphere in the Wolfsburg dressing room right now. When they and the manager watched this press conference, they certainly hoped we would come into the game in a relaxed state. But that's impossible. I know what that atmosphere is like, and I know what it feels like to fight for everything."
"When a team is fighting for survival and for everyone at the club, that brings extra energy, and they will definitely have that energy in this game. One thing is very clear: the tension we need must be evident from the start of training and must permeate the entire preparation process."
On the other hand, 31-year-old Goretzka will leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season.
Kompany said, "He remains very important in the final stages of the season. Of course, it must be quite emotional for him. We still have the German Cup final, and I think his only concern right now is helping the team win the title and another trophy."
