According to NBA insider Brett Siegel on Thursday, the likelihood of Steve Kerr remaining as the Warriors' head coach next season is increasing.
Since taking over the Warriors in May 2014, the 60-year-old Steve Kerr has accumulated a record of 604 wins and 353 losses in the regular season. He also delivered an outstanding performance of 104 wins and 48 losses in the playoffs and led the team to four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022).
With the Warriors' elimination in the play-in tournament in April, it was widely believed that Kerr would step down as head coach this summer after his contract expired. However, Kerr's future has become clearer after he met with team owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy.
According to Siegel, Kerr has reached an agreement with the Warriors' management to continue working together. He stated explicitly on the ClutchPoints podcast: "There is a general consensus among Warriors insiders and players that Steve Kerr will continue as head coach. He expressed his desire to continue coaching in a closed-door meeting with the Warriors' management, and the management also wants him to stay. The key now is consistency in tactical philosophy adjustments, as well as potential roster changes during the offseason and plans for the next two to three years."
As a key member of the Warriors, Draymond Green also believes that Steve Kerr will not leave next season. He stated on ESPN's "NBA Insider" on Wednesday: "I think he'll come back, and I hope he will. I don't know more than anyone else in the world than that he wants to continue coaching. If he wants to coach, I think he'll come back."
