Bayer Leverkusen announced on their official website on Wednesday that they have extended the contract of Brazil international right wing-back, Arthur.
According to Leverkusen's official statement, Arthur has signed on a new long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.
After completing his contract extension procedures, Arthur, who was interviewed by the Bayer Leverkusen official website again, said, "This club has an extraordinary family atmosphere; they've given me a home. Extending my contract until 2031 is a huge sign of their trust in me and makes me feel valued."
"I will repay them with my performance and my all. We've achieved a lot together. We hope to continue at this high level in the coming years."
About Arthur
The 23-year-old Arthur was born on March 17, 2003, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He is 1.73 meters tall and primarily plays as a right wing-back, but can also play as a left wing-back, right midfielder, and left midfielder.
Arthur played for the youth academy of non-league club Dínamo de Araxá as a child, and joined the youth academy of América Mineiro at the age of 16. In 2020, he was briefly loaned-out to the youth academy of Flamengo before completing his América Mineiro first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a Copa do Brasil match in 2022.
In July 2023, Arthur joined Bayer Leverkusen for €7 million.
Since becoming a part of Die Werkself, Arthur has made 62 appearances for Leverkusen in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 6 assists, where he has helped the team win one Bundesliga title and one DFL-Super Cup, reached one UEFA Europa League final and one DFB-Pokal semi-final.
