Cavaliers' defensive stalwart Jarrett Allen returns from injury

As the regular season enters its final, intense phase, the Cleveland Cavaliers, currently fourth in the Eastern Conference, have received some exciting news.

The team's starting center and defensive anchor, Jarrett Allen, officially returned to the court this Friday after missing 10 games due to severe knee tendinitis.

Allen, 27, has been sidelined since suffering an injury on March 3. Head coach Kenny Atkinson stated that, out of an abundance of caution, Allen's playing time will be strictly limited to around 20 minutes in his first game back against the Miami Heat.

Allen's return is a timely boon for the Cavaliers, who have been plagued by injuries this season. With only nine games remaining in the regular season, the Cavaliers made a major acquisition of James Harden at the trade deadline, greatly boosting their championship hopes. However, the opportunities for their full starting lineup to gel on the court are few and far between.

Atkinson was relieved that the team could still use this buffer period at the end of the regular season to allow Allen to quickly build chemistry with key players such as Harden and Donovan Mitchell.

This season, Allen started 51 games, averaging an impressive 15.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Before his injury, he even scored a career-high 40 points and grabbed 17 rebounds against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Although rotation players Jalen Tyson and Dean Wade are still sidelined with injuries, Allen's return to the court undoubtedly injects the strongest boost into the Cavaliers' upcoming playoff campaign.
