Liam Rossene said Chelsea will make adjustments and refocus during the upcoming international break, emphasizing the importance of maintaining overall momentum in the final stretch of the season. The past two weeks have been difficult for Chelsea, with the team first losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and then suffering consecutive defeats to Newcastle United and Everton in the Premier League.
In their most recent match, Chelsea suffered a 0-3 defeat in their debut at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Merseyside. After the game, Liam Rossellini admitted it was the most disappointing night of his managerial career. The upcoming international break will provide him and his players with an opportunity to reflect and regroup, although some players will be representing their national teams in final warm-up matches ahead of this summer's World Cup in the United States.
Liam Rossene said: "I think the international break is just in time, and hopefully the players can take this opportunity to adjust. Although most of them need to travel long distances to represent their national teams, whether it's a short change or a proper rest, it will help them clear their minds and return in a fresh state, thus giving the team a new look."
After the match at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liam Rossene specifically thanked the Chelsea fans who had traveled from afar, and the players and staff joined in the gesture. Rossene also emphasized the team's hard work in traveling to Merseyside and reiterated that many more matches await the team this season.
The first match after the international break will be the FA Cup quarter-final. Meanwhile, in the Premier League, the team continues its push for Champions League qualification. Liam Rossene stated that both competitions are key objectives for Chelsea after the restart.
Speaking about away fans, Liam Rossellini said: "The fans buy their own tickets and have followed us all the way out of love for the club. The current situation is disappointing, with our defeat in the Champions League and our failure to win our last two Premier League matches."
“Losing a game is painful no matter where you are. But it’s more important to look forward and use this time to make adjustments as a whole. We are currently only one point away from the Champions League qualification zone, so we need to keep working hard, boost the players’ confidence as much as possible, and hopefully this break has come at the right time.”
