Angers announced on their official website on Wednesday that they have triggered the contract extension clause of Haiti international defender Carlens Arcus.
According to Angers' official statement, after triggering the extension clause, Arcus' contract will be automatically extended until the summer of 2027.
About Carlens Arcus
The 29-year-old Carlens Arcus was born on June 28, 1996, in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. He is 1.80 meters tall and primarily plays as a right-back, but can also play as a defensive midfielder.
As a child, Arcus traveled alone to Brazil to join the youth academy of a non-league club in São Paulo to learn football. He returned to Haiti in 2013, joining Racing Club Haïtien.
In January 2015, Arcus joined Troyes, before completing his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in April of the same year.
The following summer, Arcus transferred to Lille, but only played for their B team.
In the summer of 2017, Arcus joined Cercle Brugge on a free transfer, but was immediately loaned-out to Auxerre. His ownership was subsequently permanently bought out the following summer.
In the summer of 2022, Arcus joined Vitesse Arnhem on a free transfer.
In the summer of 2024, Arcus joined Angers on a free transfer.
Since joining Angers, Arcus has so far made 57 appearances for the Ligue 1 club in all competitions, providing 4 assists.
