Mainz 05 announced on their official website on Saturday that they had triggered the buy-out clause of on-loan Mallorca Surinam international forward Sheraldo Becker.
According to Mainz's official statement, Becker's buy-out clause was automatically triggered as the club avoided relegation.
After completing the transfer procedures, Becker, who was interviewed by the Mainz official website again, said: "I'm really looking forward to staying at Mainz 05 next season. The team makes me feel right at home; I knew Urs Fischer and some of the coaching staff when I played for Union Berlin."
"The city, the club, everyone around the club, especially the fans, have shown the kind of passion for football that I cherish. Everything feels incredibly familiar. Who knows where this journey we've embarked on together will lead us?"
About Sheraldo Becker
The 31-year-old Becker was born on February 9, 1995, in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. He is 1.8 meters tall, primarily plays as a center forward, but can also play as a right winger. He holds dual Dutch and Surinamese citizenship.
Becker joined Ajax's youth academy at the age of nine and began playing for the Ajax reserve team in October 2013.
In January 2015, Becker was loaned-out to PEC Zwolle for a season and a half.
The following August, Becker moved to ADO Den Haag for €200,000.
After his contract expired in the summer of 2019, Becker joined Union Berlin as a free agent.
During his four-and-a-half-year spell with Die Eisernen, Becker helped the team achieve a surprising qualification for European competition.
In January 2024, Becker joined Real Sociedad for €3 million.
During his year-and-a-half stint with Txuri Urdin, Becker helped the team reach the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey twice.
On the 2025 summer transfer window deadline day, Becker moved to Mallorca as a free agent.
However, since joining the La Liga club, Becker's performances has been less than ideal.
On the 2026 winter transfer window deadline day, Becker joined Mainz on-loan.
Since becoming a member of Die Nullfünfer, so far, Becker has made 12 appearances for the Bundesliga club in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
