Rangers defender Raheem Sterling was jailed and tried for drunk driving after the derby victory and has been banned from driving for a year.

Rangers defender Dujon Sterling was fined over £2,000 and had his driver's license suspended for a year after pleading guilty to a drunk driving and negligent driving case earlier this year.

The incident occurred in the early hours of January 4th this year. Sterling, then 26, was celebrating after winning a key Old Firm match. Under the influence of alcohol, he drove excessively fast on several streets in Glasgow city centre.

Surveillance footage shows that Sterling's driving behavior was extremely dangerous and erratic, nearly colliding with other vehicles in the downtown area and being forced to brake hard at one point due to improper operation.

Ultimately, Sterling's vehicle collided violently with a guardrail near the highway. After witnesses called the police, officers found a disoriented Sterling making a phone call outside the vehicle. Subsequent breathalyzer tests revealed a blood alcohol content of 60 micrograms per 100 milliliters, far exceeding the legal limit of 22 micrograms.

During Tuesday's court hearing, the judge issued fines totaling £2,250 for Sterling's negligent driving and drunk driving, and banned him from driving for 12 months.

Sterling's defense lawyer stated that the player deeply regretted his behavior that night and revealed that his club, Rangers, had previously imposed an internal financial penalty on him.
