May 19 - According to the Associated Press, the New Orleans Pelicans have officially announced the appointment of former Orlando Magic head coach Jamal Mosley as the team's new head coach.
Mosley previously coached the Magic for five seasons, leading the team to a record of 189 wins and 221 losses, making the playoffs for three consecutive seasons, and winning the Southeast Division title twice.
Pelicans President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars stated that Mosley has always been known in the league for his leadership and ability to develop young players, and the defensive intensity, discipline, and team spirit displayed by his team are in line with the Pelicans' current development direction.
In the new season, Mosley will be responsible for leading a roster centered around Zion Williamson, Trae Murphy, and Dejounte Murray, while also developing 2025 first - round picks Jeremiah Fells and Derrick Quinn .
