Reece James acknowledged that the team's loss was frustrating, but hoped the team could quickly adjust and bounce back.

Chelsea captain Reece James couldn't hide his disappointment after Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final. He stated that on a stage like Wembley, the result often comes down to the smallest margins. The final, held in northwest London, was extremely close, with neither side creating many clear-cut chances, and Manchester City ultimately secured the title thanks to a crucial goal from Antoine Semenho in the final 15 minutes.  

Looking back at the entire match, Reece James believed Chelsea had opportunities to achieve a better result and affirmed the team's fighting spirit and desire to win. However, he also admitted that the team lacked the decisive finishing touch in crucial moments.  

After the match, Reece James admitted that the loss was frustrating, but he believed the game wasn't as disparate as the scoreline suggested. He said, "If you look at the game as a whole, we were actually very close. They may have had more possession in the first half, but they didn't create many threats, while in the second half they capitalized on one chance to score."  

“I gave it my all and tried everything. Whether it was a local match or the FA Cup final, everyone was eager to win. I have no doubt about any of my teammates’ fighting spirit and desire to win. We all wanted to be the winners, but the result was not on our side.”  

Reece James, returning from injury, rejoined Chelsea's starting lineup at Wembley, playing in midfield and replacing fellow academy graduate Levi Colwell. Notably, this marked the first time Colwell had started two consecutive matches since July of last year, and James praised his performance against Manchester City after the game.  

He said: "Levy Colwell is very important to the club and the team. The team was really affected during his absence this season, so we are all happy to see him back in the squad. Since his return, he has shown great form and has been a great help to the team."  

With two rounds remaining in the Premier League season, Chelsea still have hopes of qualifying for European competition. Reece James stated that securing a European spot remains the team's goal. However, he also admitted that overall, the team's performance this season has not met expectations, both internally and externally.  

Reece James added: "The most important thing now is to rest and recover, and then get back into training to prepare for the next game against Tottenham. Our performance this season has not been ideal, and I want to apologize to the fans for this result. It has been a difficult period, but I hope the team can bounce back as soon as possible."
