Rob Edwards: We don't want to finish bottom of the league, so we must do our best to overcome the challenges.

Rob Edwards has urged Wolverhampton Wanderers players to cherish their final Premier League match at Molineux before the 2025/26 season ends. Wolves will host Fulham on Sunday. With relegation confirmed this season, the club's eight-year Premier League run is coming to an end. Edwards acknowledged that the team has begun preparing for next season's Championship campaign and that a return to the Premier League is their primary objective.
With Sunday's match potentially being the farewell game for some first-team players at the Molineux Stadium, and the 19th place in the league still undecided, the manager has urged the players to give their all in the final two matches to avoid finishing bottom of the league.
Rob Edwards stated, "We now need to work hard to build a stronger team and a better club. This is the direction everyone is working towards, and everyone is putting all their energy into it. It is undoubtedly a huge challenge, and we know the process will be very difficult, which is indeed the case, and it still is."
"But at the same time, we remain motivated and enthusiastic about what we want to do in the future. We've experienced lows and some exciting moments, but we haven't had enough of them. However, that's exactly what we're striving for. We hope to create more positive moments, and we're confident that we can."
“Looking at our current situation, it’s clear that things can’t always go smoothly. It’s completely understandable that many people are disappointed and saddened by this, because we feel the same way ourselves. It’s very important to be able to hear the voices of our supporters and listen carefully to their thoughts, which also gives us the opportunity to express our own views.”
"But then I also received a lot of support. Many people came to talk to me, expressing their understanding of the current situation and how difficult it is. They sincerely hope that we can succeed, which gives me confidence."
“I think many people understand the difficulties of the current situation and are able to view it all with a very objective attitude, which makes me feel gratified. I understand everyone’s disappointment, anger and pain, and we must accept these emotions. I need to stand up and communicate with everyone every week, and I also have to face the outside world after the game, so someone always needs to take responsibility, and I can accept that.”
“We have to accept these criticisms because, ultimately, we haven’t performed well enough. But for me, it’s equally important that many people have come forward to express their support and trust, and to tell us that they hope the team can turn things around.”
"For some players, this could be their last game at Molineux, or even their last few appearances in the Premier League, so we want to do our best. If their families are there, they certainly want to have a good day. If we can play well and get the desired results, then the rest of the time will be easier, and that's our goal."
“We must do everything we can to overcome these difficulties. We want to win the games and we will. The team is putting in a tremendous effort, and we must do everything we can to achieve the best possible result. I’ve also been reminded that the club’s performance in the final stages of the season has not been ideal in recent years, so we need to fight for the last two wins. If we can play to our full potential, we are capable of doing so. Of course, we also don’t want to finish the season at the bottom, and that is one of our goals.”
When discussing the match against Fulham, Rob Edwards acknowledged that the opponents would pose a significant threat. He stated, "They are a very good team, and Marco Silva has done an excellent job there. They are a great football team with a distinctive style of play. And right now, it seems they can compete with any team when they are in good form. They can win in many ways, relying on a lot of running and player rotation to complete the game."
“They are a very strong team, but we are really looking forward to playing against them. Right now, we just need to give it our all and perform at our best, instead of talking about training this week or anything else. What we need to do is face a strong team and show our best selves.”
