Andscape and ESPN senior reporter Marc J. Spears has exclusively refuted rumours claiming that the Golden State Warriors is planning to trade a first-round pick to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo on Thursday.
According to Spears' report, despite the widespread rumours online, sources indicate that the Golden State Warriors value the first-round pick highly and have no intention of using it to trade for Antetokounmpo with the Bucks.
He added that the Warriors are indeed interested in signing Antetokounmpo and will continue to monitor his developments with the Milwaukee Bucks, but at this time, the trade will not involve the rumoured 11th overall pick.
It's worth mentioning that this first-round pick is the Bucks' first draft pick acquired in the NBA Draft Lottery since 2021, making it naturally more valuable to them.
The relationship between Antetokounmpo and the Bucks has become increasingly strained over the past year, showing signs of escalation.
All of this stems from the player's belief that the team's championship aspirations have diminished significantly. He had previously publicly stated his desire to join the New York Knicks, but this trade did not materialize, leading to Antetokounmpo accusing the Bucks of acting passively.
Meanwhile, the team's 32-50 record at the end of the regular season, failing to qualify for the playoffs or the play-in tournament, coupled with the hiring of former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins (41 years old) as the new head coach, and plans to rebuild the team next season, have further solidified Giannis's desire to leave.
Despite the strained relationship, the Bucks have not completely given up hope of retaining Giannis. Reportedly, if he is willing to stay, Bucks general manager Jon Horst is considering further strengthening the roster around this year's 10th overall pick, two future first-round picks, and some tradable contracts.
According to current reports, besides the Warriors, the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, and Toronto Raptors are all considered potential destinations for Antetokounmpo. However, it's generally believed that his next team will largely depend on his personal desire.
About Giannis Antetokounmpo

This season, plagued by injuries and management issues, Antetokounmpo only played 36 games in the regular season. However, he still delivered an impressive performance, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game in his limited playing time.
