Ahead of Wednesday's away game against Manchester City, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner shared his coaching philosophy at a press conference.
Facing the longest and most challenging season in the club's history, Glasner emphasized that there is no end to the potential for improvement, both for the players and for himself.
This Wednesday's match will be Crystal Palace's 57th game of the 2025-26 season. Glasner stated, "Every player has the potential to improve technically, tactically, and even in character. Age may make technical improvement more difficult, but fitness, consistency, and understanding of the game can always be further enhanced."
The Austrian coach made a surprising statement that showcased his ambition: "I hope that I will only stop learning when I am laid to rest."
Despite leading his team to the UEFA Champions League final (the 60th match) this season, Glasner remains as humble and introspective as ever. When asked about his biggest improvement this season, he jokingly said that others should be asked, and frankly admitted, "I am my own worst critic."
"This season's 60 games are a completely new challenge for me. I could have done better at times, but I always give it my all."
Over the past month, Crystal Palace has played almost every three days. Glasner attributes the team's extremely low rate of muscle injuries to the professional support from the medical and fitness departments. Through daily monitoring data, running metrics, and in-depth communication with players, the coaching staff is able to make the most informed decisions regarding rotation.
Glasner concluded by saying that this highly professional atmosphere is the key to the team's ability to remain competitive in a tight schedule.
